Following the huge success of last year's inaugural event which attracted more than 2,200 students, Brisbane City Council will once again welcome new and returning international students to Brisbane, on Sunday, 22 February, 2009.

The Brisbane Welcomes International Students event which is supported by QUT, will feature food, fun, entertainment and prizes, and provide valuable insight into Brisbane life and information on services and facilities throughout the city.

Hosted by the Brisbane City Council at Brisbane City Hall, new students to the state capital will be welcomed by Councillor Jane Prentice, and will enjoy a full program of Australian entertainment from 10am to 2pm, including live koalas, Queensland surf lifesavers and a traditional Aboriginal performance.

The Main Auditorium will also host information booths from various businesses, organisations and community services, to provide students with comprehensive information on settling in to Brisbane and about activities to enjoy in Queensland.

Entry into the event is free upon presentation of proof of enrolment, such as a student ID card.
